Samorthraki Island Print
Greece - Samothraki

The island of Samothrace (Σαμοθράκη) is one of the northeastern Aegean islands of Greece, located only 32 kilometers southwest of the main port of Greece in Thrace - Aleksandrupoli. The island has a length of 17 kilometers and an area of only 178 sqare kilometers. The population is about 2 500 inhabitants. The main local activities are fishing and tourism. The island of Samothrace is the mountain Fegari (φεγγάρι), which is the highest among the islands in the Aegean Sea. Her Homer says that Poseidon stood there to watch battles during the Troyan war.

Samothrace is calm, not very built island. What we most enjoy is that it is a retreat from the desolation of group tourism package, making it a preferred place for recreation of individual tourists, small groups and traditional choice of the editor team of the East Travel Bulgaria. We believe in every one of you visited Samothrace, would remain heady memory of magnificent mountain scenery, quiet secluded beaches, good food, mighty waterfalls and valleys, and authentic Greek culture.

Samothrace is not for those seeking endless sandy beaches and roaring nightlife. This is a place for those who like to call themselves explorers, for people with refined taste and prepared to leave the luxury of time to enjoy the tranquility and exotic local life.
